Delores I. McClain, 89, Amboy, IN, passed away at 7:55 PM, Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at her residence. She was born in Converse, IN on May 3, 1935, the daughter of William H. and Gretchen Cunningham Grim. Delores married Charles “Sonny” McClain on August 23, 1952, and he preceded her in death on January 2, 2019.
Delores was a retired beautician, a former bus driver for Oak Hill Community School, a member of the Amboy Volunteer Fire Auxiliary, and the Church of Hope.
Family was very important to Delores and her favorite pass time was making quilts for her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She was very caring, giving and hard working. During the holiday season, she made care baskets for all the shut-ins in Amboy.
She is survived by her children Roger McClain of Amboy, Cindy (Delbert) Perdieu of Rochester, Timothy McClain of Astro, FL, Annette (Jeff) Long of Amboy, Tamara (Michael) Holland of Spring Hill, FL, and Robert (LaShawn) McClain of Amboy; grandchildren Jennifer McClain, Brody (Tammi) McClain, Aaron McClain, Christoper McClain, Shanna (Kent) Barns, Kaylynn (Jeramy) Ennis, Ryan Long, Brandy (Kurk) Camden, Ashely (Todd) Pond, Jaquelin (Casey) Wuethrich, Brittany (Mike) Horner, Briana (Zach) Tutarow, Amy (Tracy) McKee, Rusty Perdieu, Brian Perdieu, and Daniel (Alissa) Perdieu; 34 great grandchildren and 15 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles “Sonny” McClain, great grandson Taylor, and brother Denzel Grim.
A service celebrating the life of Delores I. McClain will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, June 3, 2024, at the Amboy Friends Church 110 E. Pennsylvania St., Amboy, IN with Pastor Randy Smoot officiating. Burial will be in Bond Cemetery. Family and friends will gather from 2:00 to 8:00 PM, Sunday, June 2, 2024, at the Laird-Eddy Funeral Home, 201 N. Main St., Amboy, IN.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made through the Laird-Eddy Funeral Home to the Church of Hope.
