Dale L. Birkey, 70, of Bunker Hill, IN, passed away at 12:55 A.M., Monday, June 10, 2024 at his residence. He was born in Peru, IN on October 20, 1953, the son of Dwight and Mildred (King) Birkey. Dale married Mary Faye Reisner at the First Friends Church in Marion on August 9, 1980 and she survives.
Dale was a 1972 graduate of Maconaquah High School. A man of great faith and integrity, he was a lifetime member of Howard-Miami Mennonite Church, where he had served as a lay leader and Sunday School teacher. Dale started his career as a dairy farmer and retired as a quality control engineer at Progressive Rail.
His greatest joys in life were his wife and family and he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He and Mary Faye were active in raising and showing their herd of Oberhasli dairy goats.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 43 years, Mary Faye, is a daughter Tammy Brantley and sons Steven (Beth) Birkey, Phillip (Esther) Birkey and Jonathon (Lindsay) Birkey; grandchildren Olivia Gutbrod, Emma Birkey, Sarah Birkey, Hannah Birkey, Elisha Birkey, Lily Birkey and Benjamin Birkey; sisters Evelyn Yoder, Loretta Chupp and Phyllis Fitchpatrick and a brother Duane Birkey.
A service celebrating the life of Dale Birkey will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, June 14, 2024 at the Howard-Miami Mennonite Church, 3976 E. 1400 S., Kokomo, IN with Rev. Josh Bowlin officiating. Burial will be in Mast-Hensler Cemetery, Kokomo. Family and friends will gather from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M., Thursday, June 13, 2024 at the Howard-Miami Mennonite Church and one hour prior to the service on Friday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Howard-Miami Mennonite Church.
