Cathy Jo (Oldaker) Steely

Cathy Jo Steely, 76, of Amboy, passed away at 4:00 A.M., Sunday, April 5, 2026. She was born in Kokomo, IN, on July 13, 1949, the daughter of Virgil and Catherine (Helsley) Oldaker. Cathy married Albert L. Steely and he preceded her in death on January 13, 2025. Cathy was a graduate of Northwestern High School. Her love of domestic life showed in her detailed care she gave to family and friends; she was especially devoted to her grandkids. Cathy’s “green thumb” revealed itself in her gardens and all the produce she canned. She enjoyed bingo and scrapbooking and the family fishing trips at Mississinewa. Surviving is a son, Brad Steely of Ft. Wayne; grandchildren, Carter (Sophie) Steely, Tucker Steely and Braden Steely; and siblings Dave Oldaker of Kokomo and Lori Henninge of Florida. Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister Marcia Nichols and a brother Tim Oldaker. A service celebrating the life of Cathy Jo Steely will be held at 1:00 P.M., Sunday, April 12, 2026, at the Laird-Eddy Funeral Home, 201 N. Main St., Amboy, IN with her son, Brad Steely officiating. Family and friends will gather from 12:00 to 1:00 P.M., Sunday at the Laird-Eddy Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to the Alzheimer’s Association.
