Catherine L DeRossett

Catherine L. DeRossett, 92, of Peru, passed away at 3:34 A.M., Saturday, August 15th, 2020 at Dukes Memorial Hospital in Peru. She was born in Carlisle, KY on July 9th, 1928, the daughter of Wesley and Audrey Mable Mitchell Williams. Catherine was an avid gardener, and  always had pretty flowers for all to enjoy. For years, she created beautiful quilts in her spare time. She was an enthusiastic treasure hunter and loved displaying her antique finds. She loved spending time with her family and her dogs. She was strong in her faith and enjoyed reading the Bible. Catherine was full of wisdom and stories from the past. She will be missed dearly by her loved ones. Surviving is her significant other, Elmer Sloan, Sr., and children Cassandra (Michael) Bainbridge of Sturgis, MI, Christopher C. DeRossett of Fritch, TX, Arcella (Joe) Harris of Hattiesburg, MS, and Elmer (Sheila) Sloan, Jr. of Peru, IN. She was the beloved grandmother of Carrie Miracle, Angie Bainbridge, Dustin Bainbridge, Heather De León Díaz, Amanda Hodson, Jordan Harris, Brice Harris, Matthew Sloan, Gregory Sloan, Brandon Sloan, Cody Sloan, Christopher DeRossett, Preston DeRossett, Westley DeRossett, Jerral Deford, Lee Simpson, and Jason Simpson. She also had twenty-one great grandchildren. Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Wanda Jefferson, Mary Abnee, Dorothy Earlywine, and Myrtle Abnee, as well as brothers Thomas Williams, Charles Williams, and Jerry Abnee. She was also preceded by her son Gregory A. DeRossett (2015) and daughter Charlene C. DeRossett (2019). A Memorial Gathering celebrating the life of Catherine DeRossett will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2020 from 2:00 to 4:00 at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 West Main St., Peru.
