Carole “Sue” Wahlig, 83, of Peru passed away at 5:51 PM, Sunday, September 25, 2022, peacefully at her residence. She was born in Peru on October 5, 1938, the daughter of Maurice and Roberta (Buffington) Dye. Sue married John “Dave” Wahlig on September 3, 1960, at St. Charles Catholic Church in Peru and he survives.
Sue graduated from Peru High School and later worked as Deputy Auditor of Miami County. A woman of faith, Sue was an active member of St. Charles and involved in various groups such as the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary and Daughters of Isabella. She loved her Peru community and over the years volunteered her time to Circus Wagon Restoration, reading books to the children of Head Start and helping with abused children through Miami County Extension Homemakers. In her spare time, Sue enjoyed swimming, dancing, and expressing herself through art.
In addition to her husband Dave, Sue is survived by her sons Jay Michael Wahlig and his wife Gemma of Arlington, TN and Jon Christopher Wahlig of Peru and her brother Jay Allen “Sam” Dye of Florida.
Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. According to her wishes services will not be held.
