Billie L. Bowman, 84, of Amboy, passed away on March 24, 2026. She was born on April 17, 1941, in Converse, IN, the daughter of Lewis and Gladys (Burke) Cunningham. Billie married James C. Bowman, on May 29, 1960, and he survives. Billie was a 1959 graduate of Converse High School. She was an active member of her family with various interest, including demolition derby and tractor pull (which she won). She created masterpieces with a scroll saw and with crochet needles, did puzzles, enjoyed baking pies, and had an extensive collection of salt and pepper shakers. Never one to be idol, Billie shared her culinary skills, not only with family and friends, but she also worked at the high school cafeteria and did door to door sales as an Avon Lady. In Billie’s spare time you could find her in nature – usually hunting mushrooms. Surviving in addition to her husband, James, are her children, James C. Bowman II, of Amboy, Robert Lee Bowman of Converse, Terry W. Bowman of Amboy and Wendy (Darrin) Selking of Valparaiso; grandchildren, Michael Saylors, Amanda (Matt) Kindley, Wesley(Chloe) Selking, Travis Selking, Payton Early; great-grandchildren, Theo Selking and Gage Kindley; and siblings, Jerry (Susan) Cunningham, of FL, Ronald “Buck” (Cherry) Cunningham, of Amboy and Diana Wimpleberg, of Converse. Billie was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Lewis Eugene Cunningham and Charles Cunningham; and brother-in-law David Wimpleberg. Graveside Services celebrating the life of Billie L. Bowman, will be held at 11:00 A.M, Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Park Lawn Cemetery with Pastor Randy Smoot officiating.
