Betty Butler Obituary

Betty Butler, 92, of Peru, passed away at 8:10 P.M., Saturday, April 22, 2023 at The Waters of Peru. She was born in Peru, on January 2, 1931, the daughter of Clarence E. and Chloe Winterrowd Boyer. Her early life was spent in Chicago, but she moved back to Peru and enjoyed her life here. She graduated from Peru High School in 1949. After graduation she married Charles Butler, also a Peru High School graduate. They were married 69 years with much love and devotion. Their lives were centered around God and receiving the many blessings and guidance only He could provide. She always enjoyed working in the public. Her previous jobs were at Senger Dry Goods, Scotts IGA and Plotner’s Dress Shop, where she made many new acquaintances through the years. She loved her home and entertaining. She definitely had the gift of hospitality. You never knew who would be at the “Sunday Dinner Table”. Surviving are daughters Janet Christensen(Chris) and Debbie Hopper (Skip; grandchildren Ryan Hopper, Jason Hopper and Amy Shobe. They were a great joy to her life. Betty enjoyed all their many activities through the years. She was always full of good advice and direction for them. Also surviving are her 8 great-grandchildren and 1 step granddaughter and 6 step great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles, along with 6 brothers and a sister. She enjoyed a long blessed life and now is with her Lord and Heavenly family. A service celebrating the life of Betty Butler will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, April 29, 2023 at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 West Main Str. With Pastor Josiah Black officiating. Burial will follow at Peoria Cemetery. Family and friends will gather from 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M., Saturday at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to First Baptist Church.
