Barbara J. (Dewart) Vincent, 92, of Peru, passed away at 4:53 PM, Friday, January 9, 2026, at Dukes Memorial Hospital in Peru. She was born in Peru on July 10, 1933, the daughter of Fordie and Myrtle Hauser Dewart. Barbara married Lowell S. Vincent on April 9, 1951 and he preceded her in death on December 13, 2019. Barbara was a 1951 graduate of Peru High School. She was the Fivestar Front Office Manager from 1973-1990, owned the Southside B&K from 1975-1991, where she proudly retired to take care of her grandkids & travel with Lowell. On October 24, 1992, Barbara became a member of Eastern Star. In 1998-1999 she was appointed Deputy of the Indiana Grand Chapter, Grand Representative to Oregon in 2001, and was Worthy Matron of the Macy Chapter. Barbara was a member of the First Baptist Church and loved to sing in the choir; she was always happiest spending time with her family, playing cards, and listening to Christian music. Barbara is survived by her children Penny Baber and her husband Eric of Peru, Pam Butzin and her husband Rick of Peru, Patty Bakehorn and her husband Mike of Peru, Paula Trueblood and her husband Scott of Westville, IN, and Jim Vincent and his wife Angie of Rochester, IN; also surviving are 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lowell, and her brother Harold Dewart. A memorial service celebrating the life of Barbara J. Vincent will be held at 4:00 PM, Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at the First Baptist Church, 53 E. Main St. Peru, with Rev. David Christensen officiating. Family and friends will gather for visitation from 2:00 – 4:00 PM, Wednesday, at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church in Peru.
