Arthur Wayne Gooch, Jr., 68, of Granbury passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2019.
Wayne was born on April 20, 1951 to Betty (Pegg) and Arthur Gooch, Sr. He married Ruth Ann Grady on May 29, 1970 in Peru, IN and she survives.
Wayne retired from the Naval Hospital in Camp Lejeune, NC. Wayne attended Tech College in Indianapolis, IN for drafting and was accepted to Annapolis Military Academy after graduation. He also worked at the power plant at Grissom Air Force Base, and Peru Utilities. He was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church and was a Third Degree member of Knights of Columbus. Wayne was also a member of The Fraternal Order of Eagles, The Moose Lodge and former member of The Mannechor. He was an avid golfer. Wayne learned to do wood working from his grandfather and loved making things for his children and grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved life and always had a smile on his face and always made time to help family and those in need.
Wayne is survived by his wife Ruth Grady Gooch, children: Wendy Gooch Boughton (Texas), Arthur W. Gooch III and wife Brandi Jeschke (Peru), and Theresa Gooch Chumbley and husband Robert (Peru); grandchildren, Brittani Chumbley, Seth Chumbley, Arthur Gooch IV, Courtnie Boughton, Alyssa Boughton, Tommy Boughton, Jr., and Maddie Howell, great-grandchild: Jolene Chumbley, and sister: Dessie Hall and husband Arnoldt. Wayne was preceded in death by his sister Rebecca Gooch.
A Mass of Christian burial celebrating the life of Arthur Wayne Gooch Jr. will be held at 3:00 P.M. Monday, October 12 with Rev. Kyle Neterer officiating. Burial will be in St. Charles Catholic Cemetery. A Celebration of life will be held at the Maennerchor on Sunday October 11, 2020 from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M.
Memorial donations may be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, American Cancer Society, Wounded Warrior Project, or Shriners Hospitals for Children.
