Anna Belle (Mattox) Gallahan

Anna Belle “Annie” Gallahan, 101, of Peru passed away at 12:03 AM, Friday, July 16, 2021 at Dukes Memorial Hospital. She was born in Peru on July 7, 1920 the daughter of Bert and Laura Belle Barrows Mattox. She married Harold W. Gallahan on November 22, 1952 and cherished her time with him until his passing on April 1, 1992.

Annie graduated from Peru High School in 1938 and was a member of the Oakdale Baptist Church.  She owned and operated B & K Drive-In in Syracuse from 1954-1983 where she helped mentor many of the kids who worked there. She then began working at South Shore Golf Course in Syracuse Pro Shop until 2009. Annie loved golfing and adored her time spent working in the Pro Shop where she earned the nickname “Topgun”. She also enjoyed bowling and was active in multiple leagues. When Annie wasn’t busy playing sports she enjoyed playing the organ and piano and especially loved playing gigs with other musicians.

Annie is survived by her daughter Tami Tschiniak and her husband, Annie’s  favorite son-in-law,  Mike of Peru; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews all close to her heart but too many to mention;  her granddaughter Michele Boomer and her husband Mike; great grandchildren Alyssa and Lauren; and her granddogs Beckham, Taz, Benji and Marley.

In addition to her husband Annie was preceded in death by her brothers Matt, Jim, Ernie, Lyle, and Dugan Mattox.

A service celebrating the life of Anna Belle “Annie” Gallahan will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at the Oakdale Baptist Church, 348 Chili Ave., Peru with Pastor Rob Marcus officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Family and friends will gather from 3:00 to 7:00 PM, Monday July 19, 2021 at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W. Main St., Peru.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Oakdale Baptist Church.
