Alice R. Hudson, 91, formerly of Amboy passed away at 8:45 PM, Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at Colonial Oaks in Marion, IN. She was born in Miami County, IN on October 2, 1932, the daughter of Jesse and Emma (Myers) Bowland. Alice married John Hudson on March 30, 1954, and he preceded her in death on July 26, 2013.

Alice was a 1950 graduate of Clay Township High School and a member of the Amboy United Methodist Church. She was a home maker and had worked in the cafeteria for Oak Hill Community Schools at Converse Elementary. In her free time, Alice enjoyed gardening, reading, playing dominoes, working puzzles and spending her summers in Buffalo. Family was very important to Alice and she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. She loved her family unconditionally.

She is survived by her children Donald (Dana) Hudson, Amboy, IN,  Douglas (Shelley) Hudson, Mexico, IN, Ellen (Ethan) Purdy, Marion, IN, Lisa (Ed) Palmer, Burlington, NJ, and Teresa (Adrian) Hovermale, Converse, IN; grandchildren Donnie (Chuck) Hudson, Shanda (Chris) Shoemaker, Luke (Chris) Ramirez, Joel (Alecia) Hudson, Brittney (Aaron) Creager, Erin Purdy, Matthew Palmer and Brett Palmer; seven great grandchildren and her siblings Betty Hodson, Waneta Levensky and Jim Bowland.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John, and her siblings Raymond Bowland, Woodrow Bowland, Wayne Bowland, Russell Bowland, Eugene Bowland, Violet Lowe, Dorothy Rose, Mary Fisher, Ann Roseberry, Patsy Bennett, Carol Bowland and Virginia Rohrer.

A service celebrating the life of Alice R. Hudson will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, December 2, 2023, at the Laird-Eddy Funeral Home, 201 N. Main St., Amboy, IN with Pastor James McDowell officiating. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery. Family and friends will gather from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday, December 1, 2023, at the funeral home.
