William E. Toepfer

William E. Toepfer, 80, passed away Monday, November 4, 2019 at his residence in Peru, Indiana. He was born in Greencastle, IN on October 10, 1939, the son of George and Olus Phillips Toepfer. He married Mary Lee Allen in Wabash, IN on August 16, 1974 and she preceded him in death January 23, 2009.

Bill was a 1957 graduate of Peru High School . He served in the United States Army for six years. He was an electrician working in Kokomo at Cuneo Press until it closed. He went to work at Delco until he retired. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, a  past administrator of Moose Lodge #249, an active member of Peru Elks Lodge #365 and a lifetime member of the American Legion.

Surviving is his daughter, Elizabeth Murphy of Peru, IN, daughter-in-law, Mona Toepfer of Peru, IN, grandchildren, Alaina Ramer, Nick Toepfer and David Toepfer, great-grandchildren, Ethen Ramer, Emmalee Ramer, Kacen Toepfer and Aubrey Toepfer, and sister Mary Query.

William was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Lee; son, William B. Toepfer; son-in-law, Mark Murphy; four brothers and three sisters.

A service celebrating the life of William E. Toepfer will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, November 12, 2019, at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 West Main St., Peru, IN, pastor Kenneth Greenwald officiating. Burial will follow in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery with military rites provided by members of the Miami County Military Rites Unit. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:30 PM Monday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made through the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home to the American Cancer Society.
