Verda Ellen (Carpenter) Lorenz

Verda E. Lorenz, 82, Kokomo, Indiana, and formerly of Greentown, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 5:55 PM, Friday, April 6, 2018 at Waterford Health Campus, Kokomo, Indiana. She was born June 30, 1935, in Topeka, Indiana, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Maurine (Holman) Carpenter. On September 28, 1958, she married Kenneth Lorenz in Goshen, IN and he survives.

Verda was a 1953 graduate of Shipshewana High School. She was a homemaker during her married life and a member of the Plevna Dunkard Brethren Church.

Surviving in addition to her husband, Kenneth are two children, Marvin (LaDonna) Lorenz, West Unity, Ohio; Sheryl Lorenz, Warsaw, Indiana; granddaughters Melissa, Carrie, and Heather Lorenz; a sister, Barbara Jewett, Goshen, Indiana; a brother, Charles (Pat) Carpenter, White Pigeon, Michigan; a sister-in-law, Alverna Carpenter of Shipshewana, Indiana and a brother-in-law Carl (Dorothy) Lorenz, of Greentown, Indiana. Verda was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Miriam (Kesler) Hartman, a brother, William Dale Carpenter; and brothers-in-law Ben Kesler, Arthur Hartman, and Michael Jewett.

Visitation for Verda E. Lorenz will be held Sunday, April 8, 2018 from 2:00-7:00 p.m. at the Laird-Eddy Funeral Home, 201 N. Main St., Amboy, Indiana. Funeral Services will be held Monday, April 9, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the Plevna Dunkard Brethren Church in Plevna, Indiana, with Verda’s nephew Dr. Lloyd Lorenz officiating. Burial will follow at the Zion cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.
