Robert W. Eldridge, 92, of Peru, passed away at 5:20 P.M., Monday, June 19, 2017.

He was born in Peru, IN on November 18, 1924 the son of Donald and Helen Murphy Eldridge.  Bob married Dorothy Schmidt at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Peru on December 11, 1944 and she survives. 

Bob was a 1942 graduate of Peru High School, a US Navy WWII Veteran and a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.  He was employed by Fisher Body in Marion retiring in 1989. 

Bob was a member of the Miami County VFW Post 2067, Glen Owens American Legion Post 14 and the Peru Maennerchor.   An avid fisherman, Bob was most passionate and dedicated to his family, especially watching the grandchildren’s sporting events.   In a quiet and unassuming manner, he placed his God and his family above all else in his life. 

Surviving in addition to his wife, Dorothy, are daughters Sheri Moore of Logansport and Darcy Ashby and her husband Bruce of Logansport; a son, Richard Eldridge of Peru; a daughter-in-law Carol Eldridge of Logansport; a sister Betty Renshaw of TX; grandchildren Rob Moore, Melissa Robertson, Karrie Smith, Jennifer Sweet, Jeffrey Eldridge, Rich Eldridge, Ryan Eldridge, Tonya Bartholomew, Tisha Larkin, Tina Archer, Shane Dennis, Jeremy Dennis, Josh Ulery, Allison Ashby, Cale Ashby and Ethan Ashby and several great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Robert Jeffrey Eldridge.

A service celebrating the life of Robert W. Eldridge will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, June 24, 2017 at the St. John’s Lutheran Church, 181 West Main Street, Peru with Rev Kenneth Greenwald officiating.  Burial will be in the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery with Military Graveside Services provided by the Miami County Military Rites Unit.  Family and friends will gather from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Friday, June 23, 2017 at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 West Main, Peru.

 Memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to the St. John’s Lutheran Church.
