Richard A. Vagedes, 68, of Peru, passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at his residence. He was born in Coldwater, Ohio on April 5, 1951, the son of Werner and Irma Monroe Vagedes. Richard married Brenda Winner in Osgood, Ohio on May 20, 1971, and she preceded him in death on June 29, 2000.
Richard was a member of the Chapel of Praise, a retired Bryan Steam employee, and a US Army veteran. His military decorations include the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his daughters, Keri Evans, and her husband John, of Peru, and Gail Stout, and her husband Jason, of Peru; his mother, Irma Vagedes, of Jamestown, Tennessee; grandchildren, Morgan Evans, Katlyn Douglass and her husband, Dakota, and Brendan Stout; a sister, Deb Anderson, of Jamestown, Tennessee; and brothers, Michael Vagedes, and his wife Mary, Tipp City, Ohio, and John Vagedes, and his wife Bonnie, of Fort Laramie, Ohio.
A service celebrating the life of Richard A. Vagedes will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 West Main St., Peru, Indiana with Pastor Marie Thompson officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery with Military Honors provided by members of the Miami County Military Rites Unit. Family and friends will gather from 11:00 to 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home.
