Morris “Dale” Chism has been rewarded his place in heaven. He died on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at Central Texas Medical Center, San Marcos, TX surrounded by his loved ones, while in San Marcos, TX for his grandson’s college commencement. Dale was born in Peru, on September 14, 1942, the son of Kelsie and Dora Lane Chism. He married his loving wife of 53 years, Diana McCutcheon in Denver, IN on September 26, 1965 and she survives. Dale was a 1960 graduate of Clay Township High School and retired from Maconaquah School Corp. as a maintenance worker. He enjoyed square dancing as a member of the Circus City Paw and Taws. At a young age, he had a bet with his father that he would never referee basketball games and that turned to a fondness of officiating for many years. He was a faithful member of the Santa Fe United Methodist Church and also attended the Abundant Life Church and the Bennett Switch Community Church. Surviving in addition to his wife, Diana, are children Steven (Teresa) Chism of TX, Deborah (Shawne) Overton of Kokomo; three grandchildren Kyrsten Koelling, Wylen Overton and Chaz Chism and a sister Nancy Holler. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Mary Etta Jewell and a brother Sherman Chism. A service celebrating the life of Dale Chism will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, May 24, 2019 at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 West Main Street, Peru with Pastor Tom Daughtery officiating. Family and friends will gather from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., Thursday at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home.
