Michael L. Chandler, 75, of Peru, IN, passed away after a courageous four-and-a-half-year battle with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma on Saturday, May 18, 2019. He passed away in his home surrounded by his loving family. Mike was born in Peru on May 27, 1943, the son of O. James Chandler Jr. and Charlotte (Monahan) Chandler. He married Kaye Saine, his high school sweetheart, at St. Charles Catholic Church on October 31, 1964; she survives. Mike was a 1961 graduate of Peru High School. He has been an active, life-long member of St. Charles Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Midwest Model Railroad Club and UAW #685. Mike was employed by Chrysler Corporation in Kokomo, IN for 40 years where he made many life-long friends. He worked in skilled trades as a machine repairman. His greatest joys were his wife and family and his Roman Catholic Faith, where he was a regular at weekly Mass. “Papa”, as he was called by his family, was a devoted father and staunch supporter of his children and grandchildren as evidenced by his frequent presence at school and sports functions. He thoroughly enjoyed model railroading, golf and playing Euchre with his family. Surviving in addition to his wife, Kaye, are daughters Kim Suffoletta and her husband Dan of Cincinnati, OH and Kristi Stanley and her husband Sam of Noblesville, IN; a son Kip Chandler and his wife Jenny of Peru, IN and granddaughters Katie Chandler, Meggie Suffoletta and Cora Stanley and grandsons Kyle and Drew Suffoletta, Michael Chandler and Eli and Wyatt Stanley. Also surviving are his brother Jim Chandler and his wife Barb of Peru, IN. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Michael Chandler will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at St. Charles Catholic Church with Rev. Adam Mauman officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Family and friends will gather from 4:00-8:00 PM, Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 West Main Street, Peru, IN. There will be a prayer service at 8:00PM, Tuesday at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to St. Vincent de Paul or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Indiana Chapter.
