Mary Magdiline Copp

Mary M. Copp, 79, of Peru, IN passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Peru. She was born in Tallapoosa, Missouri on May 7, 1939 to George Jacob and Jennie Mae Seals Thurston. Mary married John C. Copp in Tipton, IN on October 31, 1953 and he preceded her in death on May 16, 2015.

She attended Windfall High School and San Bernadino Valley College. She retired from Roddies Janitorial Service in 2001 and was a homemaker.

Mary was a devout Christian whose faith guided her in every endeavor. She was an active member of the Church of Christ at Grissom serving in various capacities where needed. She was an example of purest devotion, foremost to her husband, children, nieces, and nephews.

Surviving are her children, John Bradley (Jennifer) Copp of Fountaintown, Mark Andrew (Shannon) Copp of Peru, and Robbie LeAnn  Zellar of Hudson, FL. Grandchildren, Shannon Copp, Amie (Jeremy) Gant, Jesse Zellar, Andrew (Beth) Wray, Brooke (Lance) Chase, Kurtis (Jamie) Copp, William (Jessica) Copp,  Adam Copp, and Joshua Copp, and great-grandchildren, Kalel Scott, Kayden Scott, Matthew Gant, Justin Gant, Landon Chase, Isabella Chase, and Benjamin Copp. Also surviving is her brother George Thurston of Peru. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John, four brothers, and three sisters.

A service celebrating the life of Mary M. Copp will be held at the Church of Christ at Grissom, 1461 Matador Street, on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 2:00PM with John Damron officiating. Friends and family will gather on March 2, 2019 from 12:00PM-2:00PM at the church. Burial will be at New Hope Cemetery, Miami County. Services have been entrusted to the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home.
