Louise Mary Cochran, 87, of Indianapolis, passed away at 3:42 AM, Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at St. Augustine’s Home in Indianapolis, IN. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 16, 1930, the daughter of John L. and Esther Wilma Finnegan Shanabarger. Louise married Robert Austin Cochran at the Bunker Hill AFB Chapel on July 28, 1956 and he preceded her in death on November 23, 2002.
Louise attended St. Ambrose Grammar School, Loyola Academy and St. Bernard’s School of Nursing. She worked in the OB Department at Dukes Hospital for many years and the office of Dr. Yoon. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, the Third Order of St. Francis and the Altar and Rosary Society of St. Charles Catholic Church.
She is survived by her children Joe and Bonita (Miami, IN) Herman and Lisa (Vicksburg, MS), Steve and Rose (Meeker, CO) Father Paul (Wheatfield, IN) Monica (Westfield, IN) David and Angie (Peru, IN) and Ginny and Jay (Whiteland, IN) Also surviving is her brother Francis, her sister Joyce, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, a daughter Wilma and brothers George, John and William.
Louise spent the last four years of her life with the Little Sisters of the Poor in Indianapolis and in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Little Sisters of the Poor for their ministry to the aging.
A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Louise Mary Cochran will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, October 5, 2018 at the St. Charles Catholic Church, 58 W. 5th Street, Peru with Rev. Paul Cochran and Priests of the Diocese of Lafayette-in-Indiana officiating. Burial will be in the St. Charles Catholic Cemetery. Family and friends will gather from 4:00 – 7:00 PM, Thursday, at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W. Main Street, Peru and one hour before the service Friday at the church.
There will be a prayer service at 4:00 PM, Thursday at the funeral home.
