Kathleen H. Nelp, 96, of Peru passed away at 9:59 PM, Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Millers Merry Manor in Peru. She was born in Peru, Indiana on May 24, 1921 the daughter of Cecil and Thelma Fultz Hammil. Kathleen married Captain Louis Nelp, III at the St. Charles Catholic Church on August 19, 1941 and he preceded her in death on November 2, 1951

A woman of deep faith Kathleen was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church who loved her family and friends unconditionally. She was a strong woman who did not think of herself that way. Kathleen always credited the assistance of others and prayer rather than herself. She was in turn loved by her family and her many friends throughout her life and her sense of humor and caring nature shone through until the end. Kathleen was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, Daughters of Isabella, Dukes Hospital Auxiliary, Tri Kappa Sorority and many bridge clubs. She was employed by American Trust Federal Savings Bank for more than 25 years retiring in 1990.

She is survived by a son Jeffrey (Amy) Nelp, a daughter Kathy Nelp; grandchildren Sara Wyneken Gullion, Susan Wyneken, Doug (Hannah) Wyneken, Stacy (Nicholas Diabiase) Seger, Alison (Nelp) Malone, Jakob (Angie) Nelp, Laura Nelp, Micah Nelp, Kama K. Grund, Maegan Flaherty: great grandchildren Abigail, Madeline, Elizabeth, Lydia, Gideon, Josephine, Victoria, Emmi Malone, JJ, Louis, EllieKaye Nelp, Annabelle, Katherine, Wyatt Ensor, Gus Gullion, Reece, Zoey, Hollis Wyneken, Judy Dibiase

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Louis Nelp, III and a daughter Judith Seger.

A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Kathleen H. Nelp will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, December 29, 2017 at the St. Charles Catholic Church, 58 W. 5th Street, Peru, IN with Father Adam Mauman officiating. Burial will be in the St. Charles Catholic Cemetery. Family and friends will gather from 5:00-7:00 PM, Thursday, December 28, 2017 at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W. Main Street, Peru, IN.

There will be a prayer service Thursday at 7:00 PM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to the St. Charles Catholic Church Restoration Fund.
