John Riggle, 73, of Peru passed away at 12:30 AM, Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Dukes Memorial Hospital. He was born in Peru, Indiana on January 5, 1944, the son of John W. and Mabel Benner Riggle, Sr. John married Janet Donat at the St. Charles Catholic Church on August 8, 1962 and she survives.

John was a 1962 graduate of Bunker Hill School, a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church, a lifetime member of the NRA and the Bunker Hill Fish and Game Club. John was a retired UAW Insurance Representative at Delco Electronics and former sales manager at Leonda Mobile Homes. He was a US Army Vietnam War Veteran and his military declarations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, the Purple Heart, the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Air Medal. John is past commander of the Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 765 Grissom Air Museum, Peru, IN. He was also a member of the Miami County VFW Post 2067 and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans.

Surviving in addition to his wife of more than 55 years Janet are daughters Teresa and her husband Phillip Cotten of Bunker Hill, Sunday and her husband David Hughes of Peru, Carmel Riggle and her partner Ruth Patton and a son-in-law Kevin Trent; grandchildren Jeremy (Andrea) Riggle, Jason Conn, Kimber Conn, Mark C. Dexter, John Dillon Riggle and Daniella Trent; 10 great grandchildren and a sister Jean Ann and her husband Dr. George Bailey of Galveston, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a great-grand daughter Makayla Dexter, a sister Loretta Mae Bennett and brothers John Richard Riggle and Donald L. Riggle

A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of John W. Riggle, Jr. will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at the St. Charles Catholic Church, 58 W. 5th Street, Peru, IN with Father Adam Mauman officiating.

Military honors will be provided by the Miami County Military Rites Unit. Family and friends will gather from 5:00-8:00 PM, on Tuesday, at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W. Main Street, Peru, IN There will be a prayer service at 8:00 PM at the funeral home. In

In  lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to St. Charles Restoration Fund or the Order of the Purple Heart.
