James Henry Andrews IV, 66, of Peru, passed away at 11:26 A.M., Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at Community Howard Regional Hospital, Kokomo, after a five and half year battle with cancer. He was born in Chicago, IL on July 14, 1953, the son of James Henry and Gloria Davis Andrews III. James married Mia Song on March 25, 2009 and she survives. Jim was a 1972 graduate of the University of Illinois with a BA in Finance and a US Air Force Veteran. He served in the US Air Force Reserves for more than 25 years, retiring as a TSGT specializing in Avionics. His military decoration include the National Defense Service Medal, the Armed Forces Service Medal, Air Forces Training Ribbon, the Air Reserve Forces Meritorious Service Medal and the Air Force Longevity Service Award. He was on many deployments, enjoying the different cultures, foods, and people. His favorite places were Turkey, Italy and Guam. His wish was to take his wife and daughter to Turkey or Italy one day. A man of great faith and integrity, James was an active member of the Church of Christ at Grissom and a member of the American Legion Post 777. Jim was a commercial truck driver for 25 years. He was an avid reader and lived with a great love of family, friends and the USA. He loved going to air and car shows, concerts, museums, gardening, but mostly spending time with his daughter Ava. Surviving in addition to his wife, Mia, is a daughter Ava Andrews of Peru and his mother, Gloria Davis Andrews of Oak Lawn, IL. He was preceded in death by his father, James Henry Andrews III and a sister Gigi Andrews. A service celebrating the life of James Henry Andrews IV, will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at the Church of Christ at Grissom, 1461 Matador St., Peru with Terry Carter officiating. Family and friends will gather from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M., Tuesday at the church. Burial will be at the Marion National Cemetery, Marion, IN, at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, October 2, 2019.
