Helen M (Fenton) Michael

Helen Marie Michael, 94, passed away at Dukes Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, October 2, 2018. Helen was born in Peru on June 12, 1924, to Raymond and Henrietta Allison Fenton. Helen was a 1942 graduate of Peru High School and was retired from Peru Utilities. She was a soft-spoken woman who loved working around her home, caring for her family, and listening to music. Helen also loved animals especially her husband Danny’s “bird dogs” and her cats Kitty and Lily.

Helen married Donald E. Shuey, and he preceded her in death in 1960. Helen then married Daniel R. Michael on May 7, 1963, and he preceded Aher in death on September 16, 2012.

Helen is survived by a son William J. (Bill) Shuey and his wife Sharon, and a daughter Barbara L. Nye. Also surviving are grandchildren Peter J. Shuey and his wife Michelle, Courtney A. Giver and her husband Casey, Stephanie Iliff and her husband Chris, and Brady Anderson. She is also survived by great-grandchildren including Addison and Harper Shuey, Maisie and Avery Hewitt, Margit Anderson, and special niece Michele Trotter. She is also survived by step-grandchildren Debbie, Mark, Matt, and Marie.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, sons James R. Shuey and Patrick Michael, son-in-law Gary Nye, sisters Mildred Castell and Loretta DeLaRoy, and brother-in-law Joseph Castell.

Private family graveside services will be held at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Peru, IN, at 11:00AM, Saturday, October 6, 2018, with Pastor George Dinkel officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made through the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home to Miami County Military Rites Unit or Miami County Helping Hands.
