Welcome to the memorial page for

Eva Evelene (Richards) Rohrer

July 15, 1922 ~ January 10, 2018 (age 95) 95 Years Old

Eva Evelene Richards Rohrer was born in Calhoun County, West Virginia, the sixth of eight children born to Eli Richards and Suzie May Bennett Richards. She was given the gift of life on July 15, 1922 and received the gift of eternal life on January 10, 2018 surrounded by her loved ones. She married Roscoe Edward Rohrer on February 2, 1941, at the George Catey Farm in Erie Township north of Peru. Eva was a hard working farmer’s wife for many years, often working in the fields with him, keeping the vegetable garden and canning for the long winters. She and her husband known to his friends as Rocky raised three girls, the twins, Joyce and Anita, and their younger sister Kathy. They worked several years on the Doc Boyd Farm near Amboy before moving into Amboy when Rocky went to work for Anaconda Wire and Cable. Both Rocky and Eva worked a myriad of occupations to care for and support the family. When Kathy was severely injured her daughter Michelle became their “youngest daughter”. In spite of many health problems, Eva always seemed to keep a youthful attitude. Eva is survived by a brother, Dewain Richards, and his wife Greta, daughter Joyce Ann Widner, daughter and son-in-law, Anita and Charles Neeley, “son” Dale Sommers; grandson David Widner, granddaughter Janee Curwick and husband Brian; granddaughter Michelle VanGordon, granddaughter Kelli Hooks and husband Chris, great grandchildren Logan Gibson, Jalynn Curwick, Olivia VanGordon, Ean VanGordon, Carter Hooks, and Kyndal Hooks; step great grandchildren Jacob Curwick, Zachary Curwick and wife Amber; great-great grandchildren Amelia and Zabrina Curwick and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Roscoe “Rocky” Rohrer and her daughter Kathy Ilene Rohrer. A service celebrating the life of Eva Evelene Rohrer will be held at 3:00 PM, Monday, January 15, 2018 at the Laird-Eddy Funeral Home, 201 N. Main Street, Amboy, IN with Pastor Dwight Elliott officiating. Burial will be at the Friends Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-3:00 PM, Monday at the Laird-Eddy funeral home. The family wishes to thank the Blair Ridge Staff, especially the nurses, CNA’s and aides who cared so lovingly for her in Legacy Lane at the facility. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Blair Ridge Foundation, the Amboy Friends Church or the charity of your choice.
