Donald Wright Obituary

Donald L. Wright, Sr., 79, of Peru, passed away Thursday, May 24, 2018 at 9:24 PM, at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Indianapolis, IN. Don was born in Marshall, IL, on April 26, 1939, the son of Glenn and Edith Miller Wright. Don was married for almost 55 years to the love of his life Carolyn S. Clark on September 9, 1961 and she preceded him in death on April 14, 2016.

Don graduated from Marshall High School and joined the United States Air Force. Don was an Aircraft Maintenance Superintendent for over 20 years. During his time he received the Outstanding Unit Award, Longevity Service Award, Noncommissioned Officer Academy Graduate Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal Army, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Combat Medal. He retired from the Air Force after 20 years as a MSGT. After his retirement he owned and operated Don’s Amusements here in Peru for over 40 years with his wife Carol and sons Scott and Andy. He was a lifelong member of the VFW and The American Legion.

Don loved his animals, enjoyed feeding his ducks daily on his pond near their home and loved playing pool in the Towns Pool Leagues. But most of all he loved his time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Don is survived by a son Gregory “Scott” Wright; sisters Virginia Morgan and Doris Baclavek; grandchildren Zach and his wife Abbie Wright, of Peru, IN, Hannah and her husband Steve Adair, of Peru, IN, and Madison Wright, of Peru, IN; great-grandchildren Austin Adair, Hudson Wright and Hartlee Wright.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Carolyn, a son Donald Andy Wright, Jr., sisters Katherine Norton, Mildred Pennington, Mary Jane Berry; brothers Dale Wright, Charles Wright, and Everett Wright.

There will be a private ceremony for family only at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers donations may be made through the funeral home to the Miami County Military Rites Unit.    

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home.
