Clifford Walker Obituary

 Clifford Dean Walker, 96, of Peru, passed away Friday, September 28, 2018, at 12:55 PM, at his residence. He was born in Macy, Indiana on March 6, 1922, the son of Harvey and Ida Achey Walker. Clifford married Hazel Lamont on October 2, 1945  in Aberdeen, Scotland,  and she preceded him in death on May 8, 2015.

Clifford grew up on a farm in Macy. He graduated from Deedsville High School in 1940 and was employed at Chrysler for 35 years, retiring in 1987. He was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Peru. Clifford was a member of the Miami County VFW Post 2067,the Kokomo American Legion and was a life time member of the NRA. He served on the Miami County Military Rites Unit for several years and coached the Twins in the Junior Farm League for 27 years. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed working with his hands. Most of all Clifford was very family oriented and enjoyed spending time and traveling with his family. As part of Americas greatest generation Clifford enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corp on September 30, 1942 He served with the 337th Bomb Squad, 96th Bomb Group. While serving he received the American Theater Ribbon, The EAME Theater Ribbon with 6 Bronze Stars, the Good Conduct Medal, the Distinguished Unit Badge and the World War II Victory Medal.

Clifford is survived by a son Philip Walker and his wife Debbie of Peru, a daughter Christine May and her husband Kelly of Peru; grandchildren Amy Christine Black and her husband Jerry, Samantha Abigail May, Patricia Crowe and her husband John and Sara Eiler and Dustin Bretzman; great grandchildren Matthew Dean Black, Hayden Nicole Black, Trevon Crowe, Courtlynn Crowe, Landen Crowe, Drayden Bretzman and Maddox Bretzman. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Hazel and 14 brothers and sisters.

A service celebrating the life of Clifford Dean Walker, will be held on Wednesday, October 3, 2018, at 10:30 AM, at the First Presbyterian Church, 102 W. Main Street, Peru, IN with Pastor Stephen Quinlan officiating. Burial will follow at the Chili Cemetery, Miami County,  IN. Family and friends will gather from 5:00 PM–8:00 PM, on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W. Main Street, Peru, IN.

Military Graveside Services will be provided by the Miami County Military Rites Unit.

Memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to the Miami County Military Rites Unit.
