Bryce E. Eckelbarger, 87, of Peru passed away at 8:10 PM Saturday, August 17, 2019, at his son Brian’s residence in Roann, Indiana. He was born in Miami County on July 1, 1932, the son of Ovid and Ruby Pugh Eckelbarger. Bryce married Rita J. Brechbiel at the Mexico Church of the Brethern on March 2, 1958 and she survives.
Bryce was a 1950 graduate of Peru High School and a US Navy Korean War Veteran. His military decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, the China Services Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. He was employed by the City of Peru Power Plant for 41 years, retiring as a Superintendent in 1998.
Surviving in addition to his wife Rita is a daughter, Susan Reynolds of Mooresville; sons, Brian Eckelbarger of Roann, and Dana (Cindy) Eckelbarger of Peru; brothers, Phillip (Dixie) Eckelbarger of Peru and Byron Eckelbarger of Kokomo; sisters, Sara Sue Whitcomb, of Walton, and Della (Roger) Skeen, of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Jessica Reynolds (Bob) Crouch, Travis Eckelbarger, Shawna Eckelbarger, Emily Eckelbarger, Eryn Eckelbarger, and Evan Eckelbarger; and great-grandchildren, Carson Crouch and Corbin Crouch.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Todd Eckelbarger.
Family and friends of Bryce Eckelbarger will gather from 5:00 – 8:00 PM, Wednesday, August 21, 2019, at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W Main St, Peru. A service celebrating the life of Bryce Eckelbarger will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, August 22, 2019 at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home with Pastor Phillip Troxell officiating. Burial will be at Ever Rest Memorial Park, Cass County.
