Patty Lee Tolbert October 1, 1936- November 24, 2016 Ellenton, FL- Patty L. Tolbert, formally from Marion, Indiana, passed peacefully in her sleep and joined the Lord in Heaven. Patty was born to Samuel Ozro and Lois Marie (Sutton) Stepler on October 1, 1936, and raised in Amboy, Indiana. She was a graduate of Converse High School class of 1954. She was married to Paul Sherman Tolbert on November 27, 1955 and raised their family near Jalapa, Indiana. Patty and Paul enjoyed just over 60 years of marriage until his passing in February 2016.

Richard C. Gebhart

Richard C. Gebhart, 89, of Peru passed away at 7:25 PM, Friday, November 25, 2016 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Peru. He was born in Rochester IN on April 20, 1927 the son Elgin and Bernice Chamberlain Gebhart. Dick married Margaret A. Sutton on January 23, 1965 and she preceded him in death on March 31, 2015. Dick was a 1945 graduate of Peru High School and a U.S. Army Veteran. His military declarations include the WWII Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal. Dick was an ISHAA official for over 20 years and an avid sports fan who loved IU Basketball.

Rhoda J. Brenton, 99, of Peru, passed away at 3:25 P.M., Friday, November 18, 2016 at Community Howard Regional Health, Kokomo. She was born in Leslie, MI on May 3, 1917 the daughter of Manley and Bertha Christie Gilman. Rhoda married Philip M. Brenton on February 3, 1939 and he preceded her in death on December 29, 1958. Rhoda received her Bachler of Arts degree in Education from Michigan State University in1961 and her Master of Arts in Education from Michigan State University in 1967.

John E. Dempsey (SGT, USAF, Ret) 84, of Peru, passed away at 9:00 A.M., Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at his daughters residence. He was born in Lawton, OK, on August 10, 1932, the son of Herman and Lovie Irene Randall Dempsey. John married Martha Pinkerton on December 14, 1957 and she survives. John served more than twenty years as a Non Commissioned Officer in the United States Air Force, and was a Viet Nam War Veteran.

Thomas J Pulley, 74, Converse, passed away 12:30 P.M., Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Kokomo, with his beloved wife Carolann by his side. The only child of Ernest and Betty Pulley, he was born in Grant County, on October 16, 1942. Tom spent a few years living in Brown County which he loved before marrying Carolann and moving to Miami County. He provided for his family from a young age as a farmer, mechanic and truck driver. After working many years as an International Harvester mechanic, He retired from Jet Express in Marion after 25 years.

James H. Shawver, 81, of Converse, passed away at 2:45 A.M., Friday, November 11, 2016 at his residence. He was born in Oak Hill, WV, on November 28, 1934 the son of William and Charlott Bible Shawver. Jim married Maxie Ross in Westerville, OH on February 14, 1970 and she survives. Jim was a graduate of Oak Hill WV High School and he was employed at Alcan Aluminum Industry as a Maintenance Superintendent retiring in 1992. A US Navy Korean War Veteran, his Military decorations include the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal and the Nation Defense Service Medal.

Pat Arrick, 71, of Peru, passed away at 1:50 A.M., Sunday, November 13, 2016 at St. Vincent Hospital, Kokomo. He was born in Peru, on January 20, 1945, the son of Marvin and Teresa Comerford Arrick. Pat married Bonnie Day on October 23, 1965 and she survives. Pat was a 1963 graduate of Peru High School and was employed as an Electrical Engineer at Square D until his retirement in 2007. Upon retirement from Square D, Pat went to work for the US Department of Agriculture conducting agricultural surveys.

Carolyn Joan Einselen, 85, Peru, passed away Sunday, Nov. 6, 2016, at Blair Ridge Health Center, Peru, Indiana. She was born Dec. 11, 1930, in Miami County, the ninth child of Earl and Hazel (Pence) Agness. Carolyn married John Harold Einselen on Feb. 20, 1949, and he preceded her in death on May 12, 2011. Carolyn was a 1948 graduate of Clay Township School and a retired Waltz Township homemaker. She was a member and active in the McGrawsville UMC, where she had served in WISH. Carolyn was active with the Indiana Extension Homemaker’s Association in Wabash County for many years.

Barbara J. Reed, 82, of Wabash, IN, passed away at 10:37 A.M., Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Miller’s Merry Manor East in Wabash. She was born in Peru on March 15, 1934 the daughter of William and Edna Draving Brown. Barbara was married to Bill Reed and he preceded her in death in 2008. Barbara was a 1958 graduate of Peru High School and a member of the First Christian Church in Peru. She was an avid quilter and sewer and a member of the Wabash Quilt Guild.

Donald L. Hagenbush, 87, of Peru passed away at 12:15 PM, Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at Millers Merry Manor, Peru. He was born in Argos, Indiana on July 9, 1929 the son of Ivo Israel and Mabel L. Kindig Hagenbush. He married Jacquelyne J. Palmer on February 5, 1950 and she preceded him in death on January 14, 2005. Donald graduated from Argos High School in 1947 and joined his father and three brothers working at Studebaker Motors in South Bend.
