Nancy A. Spradley, 85, of Peru, passed away at 10:50 P.M., Monday, February 13, 2017 at Blair Ridge Health Campus. She was born in Peru on September 18, 1931, the daughter of Carl O. and Carrie L. Graham Monesmith. Nancy married Russell Lee Spradley in Peru on January 2, 1953 and he preceded her in death on Jan 15, 2012. Nancy graduated from Peru High School in 1949 and participated in the Class of 1949 Alumni Group. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing at Ball State University in 1953 and worked for Dr. Barnett in Peru from 1958-1960.

Linda Carol Utter

Linda Carol Utter, 67, of Peru, passed away at 6:30 PM, Thursday, February 2, 2017 at her residence. Linda was born in Wabash, IN on August 2, 1949, the daughter of Frank W. and Juanita Smith Davis. She married Robert E. Utter on April 18, 1971 and he survives. Linda graduated from North Miami High School in 1967. Linda is survived by her husband, Robert E. Utter, two brothers Frank Willis Davis and his wife Carol and Donald Ray Davis both of Peru.

Dorothy L. (Richeson) Butt, 85, passed away on January 29 at Blair Ridge Health Campus in Peru, Ind. She was born in Peru on June 5, 1931, to Ralph W. and Jessie J. (Snyder) Richeson. A 1950 graduate of Peru High School, she married Richard (Dick) L. Butt on April 15, 1951. He preceded her in death on November 30, 1991.

Lake A. Hostetler, 22, of Peru, passed away at 6:00 PM, Thursday, January 26, 2017 at his residence. He was born on September 12, 1994 in Peru, the son of Derek A. Hostetler and Sonja L. Zelinsky. He was dearly loved by his family and his faithful buddies, his dogs, Blue and DieSel. An avid music lover, Lake expressed himself through his music. Lake is survived by his father Derek A. Hostetler and his mother Sonja L.

Martha A. Kennedy, 97, of Peru, passed away at 11:20 A.M., Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Dukes Memorial Hospital, Peru. Martha was born in Peru on May 9, 1919, the daughter of Joseph and Martha Eisenbrenner Schrader. She married Robert H. Kennedy at St. Charles Catholic Church on February 21, 1941 and he preceded her in death on June 23, 2009. Martha was a Peru High School graduate and worked in the Peru Community School Cafeteria for 31 years retiring in 1980. She was a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church.

William S. Merkert

A service celebrating the life of William S. Merkert will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, January 28, 2017 at the Laird-Eddy Funeral Home, 201 N. Main Street, Amboy, IN with Pastor Dwight Elliott officiating. Burial will be at the Park Lawn Cemetery with Graveside Military Rites provided by the Miami County Military Rites Unit. Family and friends will gather from 11:00-1:00 PM at the Laird-Eddy Funeral Home.
William S. Merkert, 96 of Amboy passed away at 6:20 A.M., Friday, January 20, 2017 at St. Vincent’s, Kokomo, IN. William was born in Marion, IN on May 8, 1920 the son of Charles W. and Lalie Trowbridge Merkert. William was a 1938 graduate of Converse High School. William married Harriett J. Haines July 29, 1942 in Peru, IN. As part of America’s greatest generation he enlisted in the US Army during WWII on January 12, 1942 and served until September 21, 1945.

Thomas J. Bessignano

Bessignano will be held at 11:30 AM, Friday, January 27, 2017 at St. Charles Catholic Church, 58 W. 5th Street, Peru, IN with Father Adam Mauman officiating. Burial will be at Ever Rest Cemetery. Family and friends will gather from 9:00-11:00 AM at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W. Main Street, Peru, IN prior to the service.
Thomas Joseph Bessignano formerly of Peru, IN passed away at 6:30 a.m. Friday, January 20, 2017 at Community Heart and Vascular Hospital, Indianapolis, IN. Thomas was born in Peru on February 12, 1942, the son of Frank R. and Edith M. Cantoni Bessignano. Tom graduated Peru High School in 1960 and attended Indiana State University. Tom married Virginia Ann “Ginny” Spencer on May 6, 1965 and she survives. Tom owned and operated Froggies’s Restaurant for 40 years.

Merval L. Berglan

Merval Berglan, 79, of Peru passed away at 9:08 P.M. Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at the Wesleyan Health Care Center, Marion, IN. Merval was born on November 23, 1937, the son of Harry F. and Freda L. Speicher Berglan. Merval was a 1956 graduate of Converse High School and joined the US Army in 1962 where he served as a Military Policeman and received several medals including the Battle Indoctrinate, Code of Conduct, Military Justice and Geneva Convention. He worked and retired from Wilson’s Food Processing Plant. He was a beloved father & friend.

Conradt C. Cutler

Conradt C. Cutler, 73, formerly of Peru, passed away at 4:50 A.M., Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at West Side Garden Plaza, Indianapolis. He was born in Peru, on June 5, 1943 the son of Frank Corbin and Margaret Louise Miller Cutler. Conradt was a 1961 graduate of Peru High School, a 1965 graduate of North Manchester University and received his teaching degree from Butler University in 1968. He taught in both Northwest High School and Tech High School in Indianapolis.

Ronald W. Erbaugh, 76, of Peru, passed away at 1:35 P.M., Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Bickford Cottage, Wabash, IN. He was born in Bunker Hill, IN on August 27, 1941, the son of Raymond and Bonnie Erbaugh. Ronald married Carol Sue Losher on April 26, 1963 and she preceded him in death on May 31, 2014. Ronald graduated from Bunker Hill High School and worked in the Tool & Dye department at Chrysler Corp. Surviving are his sons, Tod W. Erbaugh and his wife Michelle of Peru, and Ted E.
