Teresa E. McKnight, 90, of Peru, IN, passed away at 7:40 PM, Saturday, October, 26, 2013 at Miller’s Merry Manor Nursing Home, Peru. She was born in Cook, IN on January 9, 1923 the daughter of Raymond J. and Susan Schmidt Scherer. Teresa married William E. McKnight at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Crown Point, IN on June 2, 1945 and he preceded her in death on October 26, 1997.
Teresa was a 1941 graduate of Crown Point High School and worked at the Calumet Abstract Office in Crown Point prior to her marriage in 1945. She was a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella and the Altar & Rosary Society.
Teresa greatest joys in life were her husband and family and her Roman Catholic Faith, where she was regular at daily Mass. Family was extremely important to Teresa and she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved her family unconditionally and always made everyone she came in contact with feel extra special.
She is survived by a son, James McKnight and his wife Judy of Peru; a daughter Sue Ann Hogan of Pacolet, SC; grandchildren Ann Martin and her husband Brian, Jimmy DuBois, Kim Floyd and her husband John, Chipper Wilkerson and his wife Kristin; great-grandchildren Abby Martin, Shelby Walker, Breanna Floyd, Zadie Ann Wilkerson and Amelia Wilkerson and a great-great-grandson Bentley Walker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bill, a son-in-law Robert Hogan and a brother Edward Scherer.
A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Teresa E. McKnight will be held at St. Charles Catholic Church, 58 West Fifth Street, Peru at 10:30 AM, Thursday, October 31, 2013 with Rev. Eric Underwood officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Family and friends will gather from 5:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 West Main Street, Peru. There will be a prayer service at 8:00 PM, Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to the St. Charles Catholic Church.
