Robert Hostetler, 97, of Sante Fe, Indiana passed away at 10:30 AM, Friday, October 3, 2014 at Dukes Memorial Hospital. He was born in Peru, IN on January 10, 1917 the son of Alonza and Dora Swoverland Hostetler. Bob married Martha Jane Watkins in Jeffersonville, IN on June 28, 1947.

A truck driver by trade Bob drove for Bryan Manufacturing 1943-1948, Freeman Industries 1958-1970, Hausske- Harlen Manufacturing from 1970-1985 and Dillman Furniture 1985-1997. Additionally, he and his wife Marty owned and operated Marty’s Café, a Peru landmark on North Broadway until their retirement in 1990.

Bob was a member of the Peru Moose Lodge and the Peru Eagles Lodge for more than 50 years. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Surviving in addition to his wife of more than 67 years, Marty, are sons Merle Hostetler of Gilead, Lester Hostetler of Peru; grandchildren Derek Hostetler, Hunter Hostetler, Kevin Hostetler, Rhonda Miller, Crissy Crist and Shane Nye; great-grandchildren Lake Hostetler, Zachery Hostetler, Kevin Wayne Hostetler, Zachary Nye, Ashley Crist and Lacey Crist and great-great-grandchildren Quin Hostetler, Reese Hostetler and Michael Lynn Hostetler. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons Robert (Bobby) Hostetler and David Hostetler, a daughter-in-law Pat Hostetler and three brothers Harry, Harold and Raymond Hostetler.

A service celebrating the life of Robert Hostetler will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 West Main Street, Peru with Pastor George Dinkel officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Family and friends will gather from 4:00-7:00 PM, Monday at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home.
