Karmen Kennedy 53, of Peru, IN, passed away at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at her residence. She was born in Manitowoc, WI on November 23, 1960 the daughter of Kurth and Lori Schillinger Grainger. Karmen married John “Jack” Kennedy on August 4, 1977 and he preceded her in death on April 17, 2012.

Karmen was a kind, caring, and generous soul who will be greatly missed by many. She was very family oriented, loved to spoil her grandchildren, and was very much in love with her husband Jack who lost his battle with cancer in April 2012. Karmen married Jack at the age of 16, and the couple began their life together in his hometown of Peru, shortly after meeting in Minot, ND, where Karmen lived and Jack was serving in the Air Force. They spent many happy years together and left friends and family with unforgettable memories. While Karmen’s loved ones grieve their loss, they also rejoice in knowing that she is happily reunited in Heaven with the love of her life Jack and daughter, Jennifer.

Karmen was a homemaker and worked part-time at the Holy Trinity Anglican Catholic Church. She is survived by her son Johnny Kennedy of Peru; daughters Courtney Kennedy of Peru, Ashley Stanfield and her husband Andrew of Peru and Christie Kennedy of Peru; grandchildren Hayley Townsend, Joseph Townsend, Alexis Stanfield and Austin Stanfield; her father Kurth Grainger Oshkosh, WI; her mother Lori Schillinger of Portland, OR; a brother Jody Grainger and his wife Liz of North Carolina, and sisters Korri Ottman and her husband John of Gresham, OR, Lisa Fuerstenau and her husband Paul of Portland, OR and Jamie Grainger of Deerfield, WS

She was preceded in death by her husband Jack and a daughter Jennifer Kennedy.

A service celebrating the life of Karmen Kennedy will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 West Main Street, Peru, IN with Rev. Douglass Hungerford officiating. Burial will be in St. Charles Catholic Cemetery, Peru, IN. Friends and family will gather from 5:00 - 8:00 PM Tuesday at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home.
