Judy F. Potts, 71, of Peru, IN passed away at 8:05 P.M., Sunday, August 19, 2012 at Miller’s Merry Manor, Peru, IN. She was born in Peru, IN on October 19, 1940 the daughter of Robert and Jean Sharp Ward. Her father, Lt. Robert Ward was shot down in a bombing raid over Germany on March 18, 1943. Her mother then married J. Milton Cypherd and he raised her as his own. Judy married Raymond F. Potts at the First Baptist Church in Peru on June 8, 1958 and he preceded her in death on June 4, 1996.
Judy was a 1958 graduate of Peru High School and was the Home Coming Queen her Senior year. She was employed as a quality control specialist for Ebert Machine Shop for 32 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Peru. An avid sports enthusiast, Judy was a member of the Miami County Golf Association, Miami County Women’s Bowling Association and the Miami County Women’s Softball Association. She was also a diehard Chicago Cubs fan.
Judy is survived by her sons; Ron Potts and his wife Lorrie of Peru, IN and Rick Potts and his wife Susie of Cary, NC; a daughter-in-law, Kelli Zink Potts of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Amanda Potts Downes, Rachel Potts, Lance Potts, Laura Potts, Matthew Potts and Ian Potts; great-grandchildren; Logan, Jordyn, Madison and Sydney and a brother John M. Cypherd of NC. She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-father, her husband, a son, Raymond “Sonny” Potts, Jr.; and a sister, Joan Fites.
A service celebrating the life of Judy Potts will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, August 24, 2012 at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 West Main St., Peru, IN with Rev Mike Kostula officiating. Burial will be at Ever Rest Memorial Park, Logansport, IN. Family and friends will gather from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M., Thursday at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home.
