Gerald Guyer

Gerald L. Guyer, 82, of Peru, Indiana passed away 9:30PM, Thursday, December 10, 2015 at his residence. He was born in Peru on May 18, 1933 the son of Paul and Nira Amos Guyer. Gerald married Paula Holden in Logansport on August 4, 1960 and she survives.
Gerald was a 1952 graduate of Peru High School and a United States Air Force Korean War Veteran. His Military declarations include the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was co-owner and worked in the family business Guyer the Mover, “On The Run Since 21”.

Gerald was a 50 year member of the Peru-Miami Lodge #67 F&AM. He was also a member of the Peru Moose Lodge and American Legion Glen Owens Post #14.

Gerald was a lifelong resident of the Peru and Miami County Area and was a loving husband, father and grandfather who cared greatly about his county, community and family. His faith in the Lord was strong and steadfast and he was an active Member of the Independent Christian Fellowship Church of Peru. He was always quick with a smile and loved to hug. Gerald had a sharp wit and an arsenal of sayings to including “No load is too big or too small, Jesus hauls it all” and “Jesus loves you and so do I”. He would often greet you wanting a “Sho Sho” which means a quarter. Gerald loved the beauty of nature and the loyalty and the affection of his pet dog “Lil Bit”.

Surviving in addition to his wife Paula are sons James Guyer and his wife Marie of Peru, Indiana and Gerald Guyer II and his wife Tina of Peru, Indiana daughters Teresa Rasmussen and her husband George of Macy, Indiana and Janice Rockey and her husband Jeff of Peru, Indiana; grandchildren Jamey Guyer, Jeremiah Guyer, Megan Guyer, Gerald Guyer III, Jackie (Cory) Renforth, Jenna (Zack) Mongosa, Michael Rasmussen and Skiler Rockey; great grandchildren Logan Hayes, Evan Guyer, Kelsey Guyer, Addy Reed, Brooklyn Renforth, Kaydence Mongosa and Mikalya Mongosa; a brother Harold (Sonja) Guyer of Georgetown, Texas and a sister Katie (Jim) Wheeler of Boise City, Louisiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers George, Charlie, John, Harvey and Henry Guyer and sisters Helen Young and Naida Webster.
A Masonic Service will be held at 4:00 PM, Sunday, December 13, 2015 at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W. Main St., Peru, IN followed by prayer service led by Brother John Garner and Military Rites provided by the Miami County Military Rites Unit. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM- 4:00 PM Sunday at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to the Miami County Military Rites Unit
