Flora B. Rogers, 86, of Peru, IN, passed away at 4:10 AM, Sunday, September 23, 2012 at Dukes Memorial Hospital. She was born in Itawamba County, Mississippi, on November 26, 1925 the daughter of Willie Bob and Daisy Jones Burt. She was married to W. C. “Willie” Rogers and he preceded her in death on April 28, 2012.
Flora was a member of the Mt. Herman Baptist Church and loved the Lord and delighted in singing his praises. A mother of eleven children, family was paramount to her. She thoroughly enjoyed her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children Troy Rogers and his wife Angela of Peru, Robert Rogers of Arkansas, Wilbert Rogers of Ft. Wayne, Russell Rogers and his wife Linda of Richmond, IN, Melvin Rogers of Alabama, Laura Farmer and her husband Dan of Peru, Pam Moore and her husband Larry of Marion, Teresa Morning and her husband Donald of Kewanna; a daughter-in-law Leila Rogers of Alabama; 31 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters Johnnie Mae Denmon of St. Louis, MO, Emma Perry and her husband Rayfield of Carson, CA and a brother Ben Burt and his wife Everjean of Mississippi.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Willie, sons Roy Rogers and W. C. Rogers, Jr. a daughter Linda Rogers, brothers David Burt, Ezria Burt, Carson Burt and sisters Jimmie Green, Jackie Clark and Vonia Yerger.
Family and friends will gather from 2:00-5:00 PM, Thursday, September 27, 2012 at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 West Main Street, Peru. A service celebrating the life of Flora B. Rogers will be held at 5:00 PM, Thursday at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM, Friday, September 28, 2012 at the Dayton National Cemetery, Dayton, OH.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to the American Diabetes Association.
