On Saturday May 17, 2014 at 6:30 AM, Carolyn Ann Palmer, known to her friends as Ann, passed away at Blair Ridge Health Campus after an extended illness. She was born in Peru, IN on October 18, 1934 to the late W. V. (Bill) Palmer and the late Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Harris Palmer. Ann married Garrett (Gary) Palmer on November 18, 1961 and he survives. They are the parents of two children Lisa Beckman and Jeffrey Palmer who preceded her in death on March 8, 2002. Ann is also survived by her brother James (Jim) Palmer, two nephews Jim and Tom Palmer, her son-in-law Bill Beckman, five grandchildren and one great grand child.

Ann graduated from Peru High School in 1952, and attended Gulf Park College for Women, Gulf Park, Mississippi. She later held important secretarial positions in the U.S. Civil Service System. This included service at Bunker Hill Air Force Base (now Grissom), Washington D.C., and military installations in the Republic of the Philippines and Republic of South Korea. Before the conversion of Grissom Air Force Base to reserve facility and prior to her retirement, Ann served as the secretary to several Base Commanders at Grissom. During her civil service career, she received numerous awards to her outstanding service.

Ann was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Peru, the Peru Chapter of Tri Kappa Sorority and the Peru Art Club. She also enjoyed playing bridge and was a member of several bridge clubs.

A service celebrating the life of Carolyn Ann Palmer will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 24, 2014 at the First Presbyterian Church, 102 W. Main St., Peru, IN with Pastor Stephen Quinlan officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church.
