William E Rairigh

William Elbert Rairigh passed away at his home on August 5, 2017. Born January 2, 1935, Bill was the son of Loyd H. Rairigh and Thelma O. (Funk, Rairigh) Reed, who preceded him in death. He was raised by his Aunt Gladys and Uncle Mervin Rynearson, who also have preceded him. Drafted in 1957, Bill served two years in the United States Army. While stationed in Bamberg, Germany, he served in the Co. F 2nd Battalion, 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment, as the First Sergeant’s personal driver. He retired in 2000, after 43 years from the Kickapoo Sand & Gravel Company, and Rock Industries in Peru. He loved to fish, garden, and had a fine talent in woodworking. William married Frances L. Pasquale on January 6, 1962, who preceded him in death. Together they raised four children, Christina M. (Rairigh) Miltenberger (Rex) of South Bend, IN, Robert W. Rairigh (Kathy) of Milford, IN, Timothy J. Rairigh (Debbie) of Tehachapi, CA, and James L. Rairigh (Denise) of Peru, IN. He was also loved by 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. One grandson, Brandon Rairigh, preceded him in death. Also surviving are Bill's brother, Gene Rairigh (Renate) of Peru, IN, and sisters Bonnie Hudson (Terry) of Arvada, CO, and Diane Christensen of Ankeny, IA. Preceding him in death were his sisters Charlotte Rohrer and Connie Bailey. Family and friends will gather at Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral home, 84 W. Main Street, Peru, Indiana on Tuesday, August 8th, from 4 – 7 pm. Following visitation a Prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, August 9th, at St. Charles Catholic Church, 58 West 5th Street, Peru, Indiana. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow immediately afterwards, at Ever Rest Memorial Park, Logansport, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Premier Hospice, 2529 Commerce Drive, Ste A, Kokomo, IN 46902.
