Martha Jane Watkins, 91, of Peru, passed away at 12:06 PM, Sunday, May 14, 2017, at Dukes Memorial Hospital. She was born in Lee, MA on July 2, 1925, the daughter of Terrence and Martha Catlett Cavanaugh Sr. Martha Jane was a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church, the Altar and Rosary Society and former employee of Eck Adams and Dukes Memorial Hospital. She is survived by sons Ralph Watkins and his companion Jennifer Cunningham of Peru, Mark Watkins and his wife Therese of Peru; daughters Lisa Wagner and her husband Steven of Peru, Linda Saylors of Bunker Hill and Cinda Elrod of Peru; a brother James Cavanaugh and his wife Mary of Louisville, KY; grandchildren Ted Saylors, Stephanie (Wes) Santos, Andra (Adam) Griffin, Teresa (Kyle) Hamm, James (Erin) Bosse, Candice Haley Elrod , Mark Joseph Watkins II, Andrew (Heather) Watkins, Scott (Marcia) Wilkinson, Ralph Watkins, III, Christian Watkins, Silas (Brooke) Watkins, Ryan Finicle and Stefan Watkins and 19 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter Cynthia Watkins, a sister Betty Cavanaugh and brothers Robert, Ronald and William Cavanaugh. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Martha Jane Watkins will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, May 18, 2017 at the St. Charles Catholic Church with Rev. Adam Mauman officiating. Family and friends will gather from 5:00-8:00 PM, Wednesday at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W. Main Street, Peru, IN. There will be prayer service at 7:30 PM Wednesday at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to the St. Vincent dePaul Society.
