Irven J. Myers, 97, formerly of Amboy, IN passed away at 7:55 P.M., Sunday, April 16, 2017 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Peru. He was born in Kokomo, IN on September 30, 1919, the son of Jacob and Anna Metzler Myers. Irven married Virginia Ann DeFord in Peru, IN on January 17, 1943 and she survives. Irven was a member of the Amboy United Methodist Church and a retired carpenter.

He enjoyed gardening, camping and fishing. He loved country gospel music and was an accomplished musician playing the organ, piano and keyboard. Surviving in addition to his wife, Virginia are sons Dennis Myers and his wife Penny of Leesburg, IN and Dale Myers and wife Rose Marie of Amboy, IN, a brother Clyde Myers of Amboy, IN, grandchildren Larry Myers, Kay Long, Lonnie Myers and Rex Myers, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-greatgrandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and nine brothers.

A service celebrating the life of Irven J. Myers will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, April 21, 2017 at the Laird-Eddy Funeral Home, 201 North Main Street, Amboy, IN with Pastor Jim Miller and Pastor Randy Smoot officiating. Burial will be in the Clymer Cemetery. Family and friends will gather from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Thursday at the Laird-Eddy Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to the Amboy United Methodist Church.
