Charles L. Enyeart, Sr.

Charles L. Enyeart Sr., 89, of Peru, passed away at 1:15 P.M., Monday, July 31, 2017 at Miller’s Merry Manor, Peru. Charles was born in Peru on December 3, 1927, the son of Arthur F. and Violet L. Brindle Enyeart. He married Beverly Ann Galbraith in Conneaut, OH on March 28, 1970 and she survives. Charles was a 1947 graduate of Peru High School and served in the Army. He was a railroader, starting on the Nickel Plate and retiring after 44 years as an Engineer. Charles ran coal fired steam engine #765, was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and was a former Peru City Councilman and former Peru Citizen of the Year. He was an avid golfer and a huge Notre Dame fan. Charles was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, but above everything else, he was a devoted man of God. Surviving in addition to his wife, Beverly, are his sons Charles L. Enyeart Jr. and his wife Mary Jo of Peru, Mark Enyeart of Macy, Dan Enyeart of Peru, Kyle Enyeart of Peru and Tim Enyeart of Peru and Jami Enyeart of Peru daughters Rhonda Huddleston and her husband Ronald of Peru, Julie Marsh of Peru, Pam Gaunt and her husband Richard of Peru, Michelle Boswell and her husband Jim of Peru  and a brother Randy Enyeart and his wife JoEllen of Peru, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Lori Marsh, an infant daughter Tina Angel, a granddaughter Gabrielle Violet Ann Enyeart, a sister Darlene Swick, and a brother Arthur Gene Enyeart. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, August 5, 2017 at St. Charles Catholic Church, 58 West 5th St., Peru with Rev. Adam Mauman officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Family and friends will gather from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M., Friday at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 West Main, Peru with a Rosary Service at 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Military graveside services will be provided by the Miami County Military Rites Unit. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to the St. Charles Catholic Church Restoration Fund.
