Carole E. Rothermel, 84, of Peru, passed away at 6:55 PM, Saturday, December 16, 2017 at her residence. She was born in Peru on June 20, 1933 the daughter of Fred and Gladys Clark Kile. Carole married John Rothermel on May 4, 1957 and he preceded her in death on December 29, 1992. Carole was a 1951 graduate of Peru High School and a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church.

She was rental manager of Arrowhead Estates from 1979-1999. Carole was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, The Altar and Rosary Society and the Ladies of The Moose. Carole and her husband John lovingly raised five daughters. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed attending Purdue women’s basketball and volleyball games, traveling and camping.

She is survived by daughters Kyle Rothermel-Eckerley and her husband Bryan of Peru, Erin Rothermel Smith and her husband David of Muncie, Joanna Rothermel of Indianapolis, Kelley Rothermel of Indianapolis and Mary Kate Rothermel of Peru. Grandchildren Alyssa Deckard and her husband Johnny, Andrew Eckerley, Abigail and Kathleen Smith, Chris Smith and his wife Jessica, a brother-in-law Steve Rothermel of Lake Charles, LA, a cousin Joyce Wrede of Monticello, IN, several nieces and nephews, several great nieces and nephews, two great-great nieces and one great- great nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John, a sister Mary Frances Kennedy and a brother Richard Kile.

A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Carole E. Rothermel will be held Thursday, December 21, 2017 at 10:30 AM at the St. Charles Catholic Church, 58 W. 5th St. Peru with Rev. Adam Mauman officiating, Burial will be in the St. Charles Catholic Cemetery. Family and friends will gather Wednesday, December 20, 2017 from 4:00-8:00 PM, at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W Main Street, Peru, IN. The Rosary will be recited at 8:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to the St. Charles Restoration Fund or Miami County Helping Hands.
