Barbara L. Pier, 87, formerly of Peru, passed away at 1:15 PM, Saturday, November 11, 2017 at St. Francis Hospital, Indianapolis, IN. She was born in Peru on April 13, 1930, the daughter of Fred and Mildred Burkholder Ellis. Barb married Wilbur Pier at the Main Street United Methodist Church in Peru on June 7, 1952 and he preceded her in death on June 9, 1997.

Barb was a homemaker and a member of the Main Street United Methodist Church. She was selfless in her life; genuine in her interest and care for her family and the people around her.

She is survived by a son, David Pier and his wife Melodie of Sterling, Colorado; a daughter, Joy Durham of Indianapolis, Indiana; brothers Carl Ellis of Durham, North Carolina and Terry Ellis of Coarsegold, California; grandchildren Shane Durocher and his wife Ashlie, Tycen Durham and his wife Kori, Dustin Durham and his wife Emily, Avery Pier and Kaylee Pier; and great-grandchildren Owen Durocher, Olivia Durocher, Ava Durham, Emma Durham and Katherine Durham.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wilbur and brothers Fred and George Ellis.

Visitation will be after 11:00 AM on Thursday at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home. A service celebrating the life of Barbara L. Pier will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, November 16, 2017 at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W. Main Street, Peru, IN with Pastor Phil Cruea officiating. Burial will be in the Salem Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to Miami County Helping Hands.
